A good general rule of thumb is that a timing belt should be changed every 60,000 to 100,000 miles, although some timing belts are designed to last up to 120,000 miles before requiring a change. Everything we've seen on this site confirms that Kia covers the timing belt up to 60K -- which is before the 10-year, 120K Power Train Coverage kicks in. But Kia is saying 2 things have voided the warranty: 1. Schedule 1 maintenance's requirement that "drive belts" be inspected at 30K includes the timing belt.
