A line that isn’t blocked will emit a gurgling sound. A blocked line will result in no sound. To further diagnose the problem, follow these steps. Take the canister vent line off the gas tank and blow through it. You will know if there’s a blockage because it’s a short line. You can use compressed air to check it out.
Either way, your Fiat 500 fuel filter will be on the fuel system. So it will be located between the tank and the carburetor. You will be able to spot it because it is shaped like a cylinder with 2 rods and it is connected by 2 hoses. Then depending on the year, the fuel filter can be located between the 2 rear wheels, right next to the fuel
Did anyone ever find out if the 500 has an external fuel filter? Part number 68086606aa is supposed to be an external fuel filter for the Fiat 500. Just to be even more confusing, there are two different fuel filters listed and pictured in the diagram below.
